Naomi Burke, MA, LMFT
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist (MFT #141751). My goal in therapy is to enhance your ability to make your own choices and determine your own path to explore your concerns. I create a strong relationship with you in a nonjudgmental, warm, and compassionate way. My approach is client-centered and evidence-based, and it is influenced by mindfulness, multicultural perspectives, and family systems.
My focus is to provide individual, family, and child therapy for court-involved cases, as well as reconnection therapy and co-parenting counseling. I also treat children, adults, couples, and families for anger, anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, relational issues, parenting, couples’ challenges, family conflicts, multicultural and acculturation issues, and life transitions.
In the past, I have worked at a community-based agency treating a diverse population of clients for anger, anxiety, depression, complex trauma, PTSD, work and career related issues, substance abuse, domestic violence, grief and loss, infidelity, couples’ relationship concerns, parenting coaching, and multicultural and acculturation issues. I have also worked as a school counselor at an elementary, middle, and high school and provided individual, family, and group therapy to grades K-12, for both general and special education students, addressing issues related to social-emotional issues, low self-esteem, behavioral problems, academic anxiety, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, abuse at home, and complex family issues.
While working on attaining a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Correctional Psychology at Santa Clara University, I concentrated on gaining knowledge and practical skills in leading at-risk populations and individuals in a correctional setting to reform their lives through treatment and rehabilitation. For several years, I have worked as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) in the Santa Clara and San Mateo County Juvenile Dependency and Delinquency Courts. As part of these programs, I have completed forty hours of California State Mandated Domestic Violence Advocate training.
